Guar Seed
Guar Seed is the raw agricultural product harvested from the guar plant (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba), primarily cultivated in India. These small, hard, grayish-green seeds are the base material for producing guar gum powder, widely used in food and industrial applications. Rich in galactomannan, the seeds are processed to extract gum that acts as a natural thickener and stabilizer. Guar seeds also hold value in cattle feed, green manure, and crop rotation due to their nitrogen-fixing ability, making them agriculturally and commercially significant.
Guar Seed is a valuable leguminous crop grown mainly in arid and semi-arid regions of India. The seeds consist of three parts: the hull, germ, and endosperm—the latter being rich in galactomannan, which is extracted to manufacture guar gum powder. This gum finds wide applications across food, cosmetics, oil drilling, textile, and paper industries due to its high viscosity and water-binding capabilities.
Unprocessed guar seeds are also used in animal feed and as green manure in sustainable agriculture. Their ability to enrich the soil with nitrogen makes them an environmentally friendly rotation crop. With consistent quality and high demand globally, guar seeds are a key commodity in the agro-industrial value chain.
